Nis Electrical Services Terms & Conditions

 

In the following wording “us” or “we” means Nis Electrical Services.

1. Installation Work:

1.1 All electrical installation work will comply with BS7671:2018 and any amendments in force at the time of the works.

1.2 All electrical installation work will comply with applicable Building Regulations in force at the time of the works.

1.3 Where work is to extend or modify existing circuits, costs quoted assume that the existing installation is in adequate condition and complies with minimum current regulations. Any works found required to bring the necessary parts of the existing installation up to standard will be at additional cost.

1.4 Unless agreed otherwise, and where practicable, we will attempt to conceal cables into the building fabric or in building voids, under floors, etc. Where impracticable, cabling will be neatly surface run, either clipped direct or housed in trunking / conduit. Please note, we do not lift laminate or specialist floors, including but not limited to chipboard floors, as these can rarely be lifted without damage.

1.5 Where carpet or floor coverings may require lifting to allow concealed installation work, no charge is made for this service, with best endeavours being made to avoid damaging them and to refit them to an acceptable standard. However, consideration of employing a specialist fitter may be prudent, at your cost to obtain a fully satisfactory reinstatement.

1.6 Unless otherwise agreed, our standard pricing refers to a surface installation, flush only where there are suitable existing tubes in the wall or readily accessible voids etc. Where chasing into walls is required or lifting of fresh tongue and groove boards to flush wiring and accessories then this can be done at additional cost but will always be subject to site survey and acceptance of risk however, final finishing of skim coat plaster and decoration is excluded.

1.7 All endeavours will be made to undertake installation work to a clean standard, using dust sheets where necessary.

2. Exclusions:

2.1 Clearing and / or moving of furniture and other items blocking access to work areas are not included but may be carried out where practicable at your own risk.

2.2 Except where specifically agreed in writing, builders work (creating of holes larger than 50mm. diameter, creating of support structures, and any trench work, scaffolding etc) are not included. We reserve the right to sub-contract such work and ask for payment in advance .to cover costs

2.3 Redecoration and final making good is excluded from quoted costs, we will however always do our best to do a clean, neat job.

2.4 Removal from site and disposal of rubble, fittings, wiring, materials, general waste and packaging is not included.

3. Extras and Variations:

3.1 All extras and variations must be agreed in writing prior to commencement of works.

4. Pricing:

4.1 The costs quoted assume continuous and unhindered access to the site by prior arrangement with you.

4.2 Unless stated otherwise, the costs quoted assume standard working hours between the hours of 08:00 hrs – 18:00 hrs

Monday to Friday inclusive. Work required outside these hours may attract out of hours premium rates.

4.3 Any additional work not covered in our quoted costs shall be done on a time and material basis. Where this involves calling back another day, a callout fee may be added to cover additional costs.

4.4 All quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of the estimate or quotation. Unless stated otherwise.

5. Deviations from Building Regulations and BS7671:

5.1 All work where applicable, will be executed fully in compliance with applicable Building Regulations and BS7671 in force at the time of the work, particularly in respect of work in dwellings to allow the legal Part P obligations to be met. Where a Client requires deviation from such regulations, a written instruction and record will be required.

6. Risk and Title of Goods:

6.1 The risk in all goods supplied shall pass to the Client upon delivery.

6.2 All goods supplied shall remain property of Nis Electrical Services until all sums due have been paid in full.

7. Warranty:

7.1 We warrant our installation work to be defect free for a period of twelve months from completion date. However, new wiring installed by us is warranted for five years and standard accessories for two years subject to normal, non-commercial use. Such cover does not extend to goods not supplied by us, physical damage to products, vermin attack, water or chemical damage, fire or other damage or any instance where the original installation has been altered or tampered with subsequently by third parties.

8. Payment:

8.1 Unless agreed in writing payment in full must be made on completion of the specified works.

8.2 We accept PayPal, electronic bank transfer or cash. Unfortunately, due to recent government legislation, card payments (other than through PayPal), are no longer accepted.

Cheques are only accepted by special arrangement agreed in advance and in all cases such funds must clear before work commences. Certificates are only released upon cleared payments.

9. Late Payments

9.1 Unless we agree a longer period in writing, full payment is due within 7 days of completion, we reserve the right to charge interest at the prevalent rates applicable at the time as legislated under government rules in our sector. In addition, a service charge to cover administration costs incurred by late payments will also be levied. This is currently 8.5% and min £40 respectively.

9.2 If there are payments outstanding after 30 days, we may pass your details onto a debt collection agency to pursue full payment. Additional charges may be made to cover costs.

10. Cancellations

10.1 A binding contract is formed when you accept a quotation by any method (whether we have charged a deposit or not), prior to commencement of works.

10.2 We require a minimum of 24 hours written notice if you wish to cancel otherwise some or all your deposit will be used to offset our costs incurred

10.3. For callouts and all time and material quotes, the minimum charge of 1 hour’s labour per booked electrician and/or callout fee will be due. On larger jobs such as rewires, a minimum of one day’s labour per booked electrician will become due plus full cost of returning parts etc.

11. Complaints

11.1 Any complaint must be made promptly in writing and will be dealt with in kind.

11.2 If any part of the work is disputed, we will not pursue payment for the disputed part of the work until we have investigated and dealt with the issue. Any undisputed part of work done must still be paid on time as normal or you will still incur late payment penalties as mentioned above.

11.3 If we are unable to arrive at an amicable solution to your complaint, we would be willing to offer arbitration which would be binding on both parties.

12. Surge and Arc fault protection

12.1 Where the installation of SPD and/or AFDD devices is mandatory we will not engage in carrying out any work if the client is unwilling to have such devices installed as part of the installation.

12.2 Where the fitting of these devices is not mandatory, such as some domestic installations we would recommend at least a single SPD surge protector per consumer unit but ultimately it is up to the client to decide if the cost of installing these devices is worth the benefit they afford.

12.3 As we are not specialists in this field, we would recommend clients seek expert advice from suitably qualified persons to carry out any risk assessment found necessary and be advised accordingly. We would of course install the recommended devices for the client following such advice as instructed.
